Home remedies for Skin Rash

Skin rash is an inflammation of the skin. Inflammation can be identified with red blotches or bumps on the skin and a change in skin texture. It could be a result of an allergic reaction or a disease condition or a climatic change. Skin rashes are normally not contagious, and can be treated at home.

Some of the remedies which are found in our kitchen are given below:

Olive oil has therapeutic qualities and softens the skin. Apply olive oil to the rash prone area. This penetrates the skin and thus cures the rash.

Aloe vera gel has many medicinal properties that go a great deal in benefiting the skin. To treat the skin rash, apply aloe vera gel or pulp to the area to subside the rash and bring back the skin to its normal texture.

The herb, Basil, has many therapeutic properties. Blend 10-15 basil leaves with two garlic cloves and add one tablespoon of olive oil. Apply this paste on the rash area. Combined with the medicinal properties of garlic and olive oil, this is an excellent home remedy.

Increase intake of vitamin C enriched foods like all citrus fruits. Vitamin C plays a vital role in treating body rashes.

Add one cup of oatmeal to your bath. Soak yourself in it for a period of 15-20 minutes. This gives an immediate relief and soothes the skin.

Chamomile is an effective skin soother. To a cup of boiling water, put in two or three chamomile flowers. Allow the water to cool down. Strain the water and use that liquid to wash the affected area.

However, in addition to the above, avoid prolonged exposure to the sun or cosmetics or other skin irritants, to decrease the effect of the rash. Try to not irritate the skin further by scratching it.
